MIRI - Residents of Kampung Pantai Beraya cleaned their beach on Sunday the gotong-royong way a week after it was used as venue to host Pesta Pantai Beraya 2000.
They worked together for about an hour to clear the place of twigs, logs and leaves to make it spick and span again.
Lambir state assemblyman Encik Aidan Wing the man behind the Pesta Pantai Beraya 2000 held on 15 October, also took part in the gotong-royong work together with the organising chairman Encik Sarkawi Haji Suhaili and his committee members.
Aidan said he was very impressed with the (high) spirit of the Kedayan folks of Kampung Pantai Beraya for responding to his call to take good care of their beach which they use to reap the harvest of the sea besides being a place for holding recreational purposes.
Upon hearing the success of the festival, people from a neighbouring Kpg Kuala Bakam, proposed to Aidan that the next beach festival be held at in their village next February.
